Women's Sports Analytix
GET HER IN THE GAME
We’re on a mission to empower Women's Sports through equal media representation.
HOW
THE STRATEGY
Collating data and statistics on how much space male and female figures occupy within an area of an image. This data can be further analysed to obtain the percentage of space occupied by male or female figures within multiple images and create comparisions to highlight the disparity between the two.

RULES
CODE OF CONDUCT
A number of social media images will be extracted and annoated using a Computer Vision Tool (CVAT).
The CVAT assigns a "mask" in the shape of polygons to an image which is essentially the outline of a human figure. The mask is assigned a label to summarise if the human figure is female or male.
The masks are exported into a Run-Length Encoding format and converted to a binary form in order to calculate the area.
Using this process, we can determine:
- The number of human figures per image
- The number of female or male figures per image
- The pixelated area of each mask
- The percentage area of each mask
* If the post is a slide or video, only the first slide is analysed as a still image.
